Planning is where a company's strategy meets its numbers. Every large company runs on a plan, and AI agents are about to help change how that plan is built, updated and acted on. Pigment is leading that shift. Founded in Paris in 2019 by Eléonore Crespo and Romain Niccoli, Pigment is the AI business planning and performance management platform for companies like Unilever, Snowflake and Anthropic. It brings finance, sales, supply chain and workforce planning into a single connected model. Large enterprises are replacing legacy planning tools with Pigment, and the most AI-advanced companies run their planning on it instead of building in-house.
We’re excited to announce that the Scaleup Europe Fund, managed by EQT, is leading Pigment’s $250 million primary equity Series E financing round, alongside NVentures, NVIDIA’s venture capital arm, and WiL (World Innovation Lab), as well as existing institutional investors including ICONIQ, IVP, and Meritech. The investment comes on the heels of a milestone year for Pigment, which surpassed $100 million in ARR earlier this year, once again doubling year-over-year.
Eléonore Crespo, and Romain Niccoli, Co-Founders at Pigment
“In today's market, agility is the ultimate competitive advantage, and AI is the engine that unlocks it. Pigment is leading the global shift toward real-time, AI-native decision-making. With the backing and expertise of the Scaleup Europe Fund, we are perfectly positioned to bring this transformation to the world's largest companies.”
Why now
AI is changing what enterprise software is expected to do. For most of the last two decades, business applications recorded what happened and left people to work out what to do next. The next generation will do more of that work themselves, reasoning over a company’s data, proposing actions and carrying them out.
Planning is one of the places where that shift matters most. It is where a company’s strategy meets its numbers: how many people to hire, where to invest, what to cut, how to respond when conditions change. Those decisions draw on data from every corner of the business, and they have to be revisited constantly. Today, most of that work is still manual.
Finance teams feel this acutely. They are being asked to support faster decisions across more of the business, often without more people. The tools many of them rely on were designed for an annual budget cycle, not for a world where the plan needs to change every week.
A global champion, built in Europe
Pigment is a global company competing for the largest enterprises in North America, and Europe, and winning them over with its product and AI-native capabilities. That is exactly the kind of company the Scaleup Europe Fund was created to back. Europe has no shortage of founders capable of building category leaders. The harder part has been continuing to back them once the opportunity becomes global, a stage at which European companies have often relied on capital from elsewhere. The Scaleup Europe Fund exists to give founders that option, so they can build global champions without having to leave.
Pigment’s founders have done this before. Romain helped build Criteo from Paris into a global, publicly listed company. A decade on, Pigment is following the same path at a larger scale. Companies like this train the next generation of operators and founders, and well beyond.
Building the engine for autonomous planning
Pigment is turning planning from a periodic exercise into a continuous process. At the core of the platform is a multi-agent system. Analyst, Modeler, and Planner agents work across a company’s data to answer questions, build and update models, run scenarios, and flag where reality is drifting from the plan. A CFO can ask what a two-point move in rates does to next year’s cash position and get an answer in seconds, grounded in the company’s own data and assumptions.
What makes this possible is the foundation underneath. Because Pigment holds finance, sales, supply chain, and workforce plans in a single model, its agents can reason across the whole business rather than one spreadsheet at a time. A change to a hiring plan flows through to cost, capacity, and cash. A shift in pipeline shows up in revenue, quota and headcount.
That foundation reflects how the company has been built from the start: an obsessive focus on product velocity and on customers. Pigment ships fast, and the businesses using it increasingly see it as core infrastructure rather than another finance tool.
The next chapter
Planning software is a large, established market still dominated by tools designed before AI. We believe Pigment has the product, the team and now the capital to define what comes next, and to become the system that global enterprises rely on to make their most important decisions.
The Scaleup Europe Fund will bring more than capital to that journey. Drawing on EQT’s global platform, our teams will work alongside Pigment across international expansion, commercial partnerships, AI and product, talent and, over time, the capital markets.
Understanding how businesses plan, allocate resources and make decisions is central to EQT's investment approach and its work with portfolio companies. Those businesses span software, healthcare, services and industrials across dozens of countries, and many face exactly the planning challenges Pigment was built to solve. We look forward to introducing Pigment across that network.
Shannee Braun, Managing Director at EQT and Scaleup Europe Fund:
“In most companies, the richest picture of how a business actually runs sits in its plans. Pigment has built that foundation with a single platform connecting finance, sales and workforce planning - and put AI agents to work on it, helping teams model, analyse and act in hours rather than months. Eléonore and Romain have built a global category leader from Paris, and that is exactly the kind of company the Scaleup Europe Fund was created to back.”
Pigment started with a simple idea: planning should move as fast as the business it supports.
Today, that idea is becoming the decision engine for how global enterprises operate. We’re proud to back Eléonore, Romain and the entire Pigment team on the journey ahead.
